When is Bronchoscopy Needed?
- Blood in sputum (Balagham me khoon)
- Non-resolving pneumonia (X-ray not clearing)
- Suspected lung cancer or TB
- Foreign body inhalation
- To take biopsy or sample (BAL)
Is Bronchoscopy Painful?
No, it is done under local anesthesia spray and mild sedation. Patient is awake but comfortable. Most patients say it was much easier than they thought. Procedure takes 10-15 minutes.
Bronchoscopy Cost and Facility at IRC

Precautions
Do not eat 6 hours before procedure. Bring attendant. After procedure, do not eat for 2 hours until throat numbness goes.
